Hupa disposes 3D printer for two years now and one of the online project has been to do a case for kalimba with a use of it.
I’ve been using hand made kalimba (small guitar remake, South Slovenia production) for few years now, mainly in live shows for kids, and never had a good portable case for it. I had usually carried it wrapped in blanket in a bag which was always a little frustration when seeing this fragile instrument in a fully packed cars.
Measuring the instrument I realised I had to do the case in parts because of the printer limits (25 x 21 x 21 cm). When printed I glued them together. At the end I’ve used few rubber spacers to fit the instrument perfectly; they also functions as shock absorbers.

I am thinking to engage my partner to make also a textile cover for better appearance. But nevertheless the case as it looks now has its perfect functionality.
